THE LUNAR 100

Welcome to the Lunar 100 page. The Lunar 100 is a concept created by Charles A Wood in association with Sky and Telescope magazine. It is a list of 100 features on the moon that are representative of the Moon's history and the diversity of its geological features.
Kerry Astronomy Club are delighted to announce The Lunar 100 Challenge which is run in association with the Irish Federation of Astronomical Societies (IFAS) is a programme that encourages you to complete the Lunar 100. With this in mind we have provided you with all the tools you need to do this. There is a map of the moon with the 100 features numbered. There also is a Lunar 100 Checklist, that allows you to tick off the 100 as you complete them. There is a little space on the checklist for your observing notes on each feature. Finally there is a day by day guide. This tells you what features of The Lunar 100 are visible for any given day. Simply find out how old the moon and look at the guide to tell you what features are visible.

When you have completed the Lunar 100 simply present your completed notes to Trevor O'Donoghue and IFAS will issue with an observing certificate. There is also a competition within Kerry Astronomy Club. The first to complete The Lunar 100 will win a copy of Charles A Wood's "The Modern Moon".
